Taking a horse ride in the footsteps of the “gauchos” crossing the expansive plains of the region is also possible. Salta is situated in another northwest Argentinian province of the same name. Salta is a famous city for its colonial architecture and lively culture. It is a great place to wander the streets and sample delicious cuisine while chatting with locals of Quechua origins. In the city's surroundings, there is a wide range of activities. If we had to choose one, it would be the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a UNESCO World Heritage. It features stunning rock formations and colorful mountains like the Cierro los Siete Colores. While admiring this nature's masterpiece, stroll through the Purmamarca tiny and lovely village situated at the foothill. A couple hours drive from Salta, you will overlook the Salinas Grandes, where the snow-like ground seems to go on forever. It's a must-see.
