Carl Trahan: What Is a Shadow That It Must Be Captured?

Carl Trahan's exhibition poses the question of what it means to capture a shadow, exploring photography through the philosophical prisms of negation and mysticism.

The work revisits theoretical writings from the 1980s that positioned photography as a way of escaping the unbearable nature of existence, asking how the discipline has shaped humanity's relationship with reality since its very origins.

An accompanying essay by Michel Hardy-Vallée is forthcoming.

Admission is free. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00–17:00, starting September 18, 2026.
