Kristian Bezuidenhout joins forces with Concerto Copenhagen for an evening that brings together four composers and four works, each pushing at the boundaries of Classical ideals of balance and clarity.
The programme opens with Mozart's overture to Idomeneo, celebrated for its bold harmonic drama, followed by Haydn's 'London Symphony', a work of monumental energy and vitality. Danish composer Georg Gerson contributes music of remarkable tonal and harmonic invention, and Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto closes the evening, pairing intimate poetry with heroic vision.
Concerto Copenhagen has spent more than 30 years exploring and performing music from the Baroque, Viennese Classical and early Romantic periods with historical awareness and uncompromising artistry, and is today recognised internationally as a leading ensemble in the field.
