Floconie is the second solo show by Montreal-based artist Hoda Adra, following her acclaimed L'histoire de comment je me suis séparée en deux. The piece centres on an archivist who discovers Floconie, a legendary land known for its Dazzling Peace, where snowflakes reflect a perfect light. The archivist leads the audience through the ruins of an abandoned project — a former worksite turned museum — where artefacts reveal fragments of Floconie's legend and the story of a vanished pigeon once tasked with tending the snowflakes.
The show invites audiences into a collective interactive game — described as a story 'of which you are the zero' — built from a fragmented mural and unfinished rules. Audience choices shape the narrative, collectively interrogating the price of peace. Straddling oral tale and archaeological dig, Adra transforms the stage into a space of possible societal reversals and offers a haunting allegory of collective illusion.
Floconie is part of Adra's ongoing multidisciplinary series, the Cycle des Fluides, developed through residencies at the MAI, Théâtre Prospero, Théâtre aux Écuries, and Théâtre l'Aire Libre since 2020. The project grew from her solo work and a drawing exhibition at Galerie C.O.A.
