Maria Bamford brings her singular voice to Le Studio TD in Montreal as part of Just For Laughs 2026. Revered for mining personal experience with mental illness into boundary-pushing comedy, she is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir Sure, I'll Join Your Cult and the star of four hour-long stand-up specials: Local Act, Weakness is the Brand, Old Baby, and the intimate Maria Bamford: the special, special, special!
She is also known for the surreal, semi-autobiographical Netflix series Lady Dynamite, in which she plays a comedian recovering from a nervous breakdown. A trailblazer in the comedy world, she was the first female comic to record two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials, and she starred alongside Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, and Brian Posehn in The Comedians of Comedy.
Bamford is prolific in voice work, lending her talents to Big Mouth, Human Resources, HouseBroken, Teenage Euthanasia, Bob's Burgers, Bojack Horseman, Adventure Time, Legend of Korra, and the Emmy-winning PBS series Word Girl, among many others. On screen, she played DeBrie Bardeaux on Netflix's Arrested Development and has recurred on Fresh off the Boat, Everything's Gonna Be Okay, and Flatbush Misdemeanors.
