Millepertuis is a solo dance work created by choreographer Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep for his longtime collaborator and friend Walid Hammani, a virtuoso street dancer known as Waldo. The piece was originally presented to sold-out audiences in May 2025 and now returns for a new run in October 2026.
The performance showcases Walid Hammani's mastery of popping and electro movement, drawing audiences in with his magnetic stage presence and boundless energy. As the show unfolds, moments of exuberance gradually yield to stillness and tenderness, revealing the performer's vulnerabilities in a subtle and sensitive way.
The title refers to St. John's wort (millepertuis): a plant with bright yellow flowers that conceals unexpected red pigment within — a metaphor for the contradictions and hidden depths explored throughout the piece.
Millepertuis takes place at Agora de la danse in Montreal, with performances at 19:00 on October 7, 8, and 9, 2026.
