Benaki Museum
The Benaki Museum will delight those interested in learning more about Greek history and culture from antiquity to the 20th century.
The Benaki Museum is one of the three largest museums in Athens. The building was bought and renovated in 1910 by Emmanuel Benaki. His son Antonis Benaki then transformed the house into a beautiful neo-classical mansion and a beautiful museum of Greek art. Today, the museum is one of the busiest attractions in the city. The donation of 40,000 works of Byzantine and Islamic art as well as other donations from private collectors were able to kick off the museum's collection. At the beginning of the 21st century, the Benaki Museum specialized in the exhibition of Greek works and its collections tell the story of Greece.
