COIL is an intimate dance performance created by Montreal-based choreographer Dana Gingras, exploring themes of memory, transformation and repair through the body. The work uses the spiral as a guiding motif, inviting audiences to slow down and inhabit a sensory space where slowness, fragility and resistance become forces of survival and reinvention.
The piece is performed by Caroline Gravel and accompanied live on stage by violinist Sophie Trudeau, a member of the celebrated ensemble Godspeed You! Black Emperor. The scenography is designed by Caroline Monnet, adding a strong visual dimension to the experience.
COIL blurs boundaries between chaos and control, nature and structure, weaving together dance, live music and visual art into a single immersive work. The production is created under the banner of Animals of Distinction, the company founded in Montreal by Dana Gingras in 2006.
Performances run November 4, 5 and 6 at 19:00, and November 7 at 16:00, at Agora de la danse in Montreal. Tickets are available through the Tuxedo Billet platform.
