Legend has it that an evil dragon once lived here, and when King Yu chased it away, the fleeing dragon left a gaping hole in the rock: the Dragon Cave, at the bottom of the waterfall. You can also observe, in the middle of the Yellow River, the Mengmen Mountain: 300 meters long and 10 meters high. The hill is adorned with a statue of a turtle carrying King Yu.
Zhongtiao Mountain is considered one of the most sacred mountains in China and is surrounded by mountain's hiking trails. Travellers can also visit Zhongtiao Temple, which dates back to the Tang Dynasty and overlooks the mountain.
Puzhou opera is a traditional Chinese art form that dates back more than 200 years. Performances are usually held at the Puzhou Theater, the regional opera house in Yaodu District, east of the city. They feature colorful costumes, lyrical songs, and impressive acrobatics.
Gucheng Park, a stone's throw from the Fenhe River and from the theater is home to several historical sites, such as Gucheng Temple, dating back to the Song Dynasty, and the city walls and gates, dating back to the Ming Dynasty. This park is renowned for its Chinese-style gardens and peaceful ponds, where visitors are invited to enjoy the calm of nature.
The Linfen Museum presents a collection of more than 20,000 artifacts relating to the city's history. Exhibits include artifacts dating back to prehistoric times, Han Dynasty, Tang Dynasty, and Qing Dynasty.
Located in the city center, the Drum Tower was built during the Ming Dynasty and is considered one of the city's symbols. The tower is about 18 meters high, and visitors can climb to the top and enjoy the panoramic view. Drum shows are also regularly held at the foot of the tower, offering visitors' ears a glimpse into local traditions. ◄
