Hwange National Park is also one of the treasures of this province. It's the largest park in the country where herds of wild animals live. This place is inhabited by elephants, lions, leopards, and black rhinoceros, among others. They are observed during safaris in their natural habitat.
This region bears historical significance. It was formerly called Khami National Monument, testifying to its past as the capital of an ancient kingdom, of which only ruins remain today (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
As for Lake Kariba: It's a true engineering marvel, being Africa's largest man-made lake, famous for fishing and water activities such as boating and water skiing; nearby stands a huge concrete structure known as the Kariba Dam; the Matobo Mountains offer scenic views and ancient rock paintings that you can explore on foot or by mountain bike.
Mzilikazi village is representative of local culture as it was once home to Mzilikazi, who was the Ndebele founder and monarch, but now one can discover Ndebele customs there.
The Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary near Victoria Falls provides a refuge for elephants. In this sanctuary, one encounters elephants that have gone through difficult times before being taken care of to live naturally under safety measures.
