Meadows Museum

This museum was established in 1965 due to a generous donation of funds and paintings from Algur H. Meadows to the Southern Methodist. Nowadays, incredible and unique collections are exhibited here. Spanish artists are represented with the various artworks integrated into the museum.

Travelers can marvel at paintings and sculptures made by great artists such as Goya, Picasso, Ribera Calatrava, Moore, Rodin and Giacometti, among many others. Today, the Meadows Museum continues to grow its acquisition of works such as those of Esteban Vicente and Salvador Dali.

At the Meadows Museum, the Virtual 360 Tour proposes embarking on a virtual tour of the gallery with a series of panoramic images. There is even access to an icon to obtain a precise description of the images. However, it is pretty achievable for those who prefer a classic tour. By the way, the museum frequently offers free group tours.

The Meadows Museum is particularly renowned for its exhibitions. Some lucky ones enjoyed the Spanish Light: Sorolla in American Collections, Picturing Holy Women in the Spanish Empire and even Canvas and Silk: Historic Fashion from Madrid's Museo del Traje, among many others.

The Meadows Museum also maintains a collected work of modern sculptures from non-Spanish creators. These include the Elizabeth Meadows Sculpture Garden, and visitors will see other sculptures by Jacques Lipchitz and Claes Oldenburg in the museum's outdoor plaza. ◄
