Inaugurated in 2011, the Carmen Thyssen Museum is one of the important art museums in Malaga, Spain. It is located in the Palladio de Villalón, a baroque-style building dating back to the sixteenth century. It contains over 280 works from the Thyssen-Bornemisza collection divided into 4 sections. The Maestro Antiguos section, located in the old chapel of the palace, presents results by great masters of the thirteenth and seventeenth centuries, such as Ezquerra and Zurbarán. The one called Paisaje romántico y costumbrismo allows us to discover the evolution of landscape painting during the Romantic period. The section Preciosismo y paisaje naturalista highlights paintings illustrating the transformations of the canvases from the romantic landscape theme to the realistic landscape. As for Fin de siglo offers visitors works by great artists such as Sorolla and Julio Romero de Torres, who introduced an international dimension to Spanish paintings. ◄
