Museo Santuarios Andinos

Founded in 1999 by archaeologist Johan Reinhard, the museum is
the result of more than 20 years of research and exploration in the Andes. It
was in the 1970s that Reinhard began to discover Inca sacrificial sites, the
most famous of which is Llullaillaco, where he found three perfectly preserved
mummified children.

most famous of which is Llullaillaco, where he found three perfectly preserved
mummified children.

Today, the museum exhibits around 60 mummies, including those of
the Llullaillaco children, clothing, jewelry, weapons, and ritual
offerings. Visitors can learn about the daily life of the Incas, their beliefs,
and their religious practices.

The museum does not just exhibit objects. Story films and
interactive exhibits allow visitors better to understand the history and
culture of the Incas. Educational workshops are also offered for children.

The Museo Santuarios Andinos is a veritable treasure trove of
information for history and archeology enthusiasts. It is also a meeting and
exchange place for researchers from all over the world.
