Why is New Orleans nicknamed The Big Easy?
The most accepted theory is that at the beginning of the 20th century, the city was developing very fast and became a land of great opportunities for musicians looking for a job. Hence its nickname, because it was very easy to become someone.
In 1764 the first Frenchmen from Canada arrived in Louisiana, they were called the Cadians or Cajuns. The Cadian culture is known for its festivals, its gastronomy, and its way of life. The cuisine of the Cajun is considered to be the only typical cuisine of the United States, mixing French, Spanish, Creole, and African culinaries.
