NOCTURNE 5: Electronic Night with Dana Ruh, Matthew Herbert & more

NOCTURNE 5 is the closing night of MUTEK Montréal 2026's core Nocturne series, taking place at Société des arts technologiques (SAT) in Montréal on Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 10:00 pm. The event unfolds across two floors — Espace SAT and the Satosphère dome — moving from attentive listening to collective dancefloor release.

On Espace SAT, Berlin-based DJ/producer Dana Ruh (DE) delivers a precise and driving set spanning club, deep house, tech house, and techno. Matthew Herbert & Julian Sartorius (UK + CH) perform "Drum Solo", a found-object electronic collaboration between sound-activist Herbert and percussionist Sartorius. Brooklyn ambient/dub trio Purelink join with visual artist Mika Oki (US + BE), known for albums "Signs" (2023) and "Faith" (2025). The floor closes with the MUTEK Soundsystem (AR + CA/QC + ES + JP + MX), a collective DJ set featuring members of MUTEK teams worldwide.

In the Satosphère dome, Montreal duo ebb (Nela Paki & Marilou Lyonnais Archambault) present new-age dub, ambient and trip-hop from their forthcoming album. Dutch producer Dave Huismans (NL), known as ex_libris and 2562, makes his North American premiere with a set blending deep house, ambient and leftfield grooves. Angolan producer Nazar (AO) follows his 2025 album "Demilitarize" with a North American premiere set of his signature rough kuduro. Veteran Montreal producer Poirier (CA/QC) delivers a world premiere performance celebrating the 25th anniversary of "Il n'y a pas de Sud...".
