Located in the Bizan district, The Ohara Museum of Art is Japan's oldest private museum of European art. The complex contains several antique objects and works of art spread over 3 buildings. Greek temples and houses sculptures and paintings by European artists like Pablo Picasso and Auguste Rodin inspire the main gallery. Water lilies from Monet's Japanese garden in Giverny were added to the collection to commemorate the museum's 70th anniversary. Visitors will see modern and contemporary paintings in the annex dating from the twentieth until the twenty-first centuries. In the Asian gallery, Buddhist antiquities, Neolithic objects, ceramics, and Japanese terracotta pieces are displayed for public view. The collections are divided into eight different rooms. Apart from art exhibitions, the site organizes, every summer, concerts led by world-renowned musicians and art conferences. ◄
