Ohrid is full of fabulous historical heritage. Strolling through the Old Town is a must, the latter being surrounded by fortifications. You will notice its imposing fortress at first glance. Also, take the time to appreciate its old alleys, period houses and shopping streets.
Leaving the lower town, you can explore the church of Saint Clement, nestled on one of Ohrid's two hills. This monument, built in 1295, houses frescoes restored in 1950 and several manuscripts in Slavic.
Also, do not miss exploring the Orthodox monastery of Sveti Naum, one of the symbolic sites of North Macedonia that stands out for its Byzantine architecture. You can visit the museum located there and stroll through its green space.
Samuel's fortress is also to be discovered in Ohrid. Impressive with its eighteen towers, fortified gates, sixteen-meter-high walls, and three-kilometer-long walls, this place offers an idyllic panorama of the lake and the Old Town. ◄
