PLAY 1 brings together three audiovisual acts for an afternoon of sensory exploration at Studio-Thรฉรขtre des Grands Ballets. The programme moves through states of drift, fixation and suspension using live-manipulated video, feedback systems, analog projection and lasers.
Montreal sound and video artist duo Estelle Schorpp & charline dally open with "dreamachine", combining algorithmic composition with analog video signal manipulation. Designer and VJ JS Baillat teams up with veteran Montreal techno DJ Mateo Murphy for "Dissemblance", a stark black-and-white, desert-inspired audiovisual piece. Closing the programme is pliq โ Alexandre Sasset-Blouin and Jean-Philippe Jullin โ presenting the world premiere of "Fixate", a DIY analog/digital feedback and transduction-based performance.
