PONTA invites the audience into an apartment setting evoking the 1960s and 70s, where the boundaries between fashion show, cinema and theatre dissolve. The stage features an intimate living room composed of a sofa, a rug, a lamp, a coffee table and a record player.
Models gradually inhabit the space as characters in an unfolding story, interacting with the dรฉcor โ settling onto the sofa, changing a vinyl record, exchanging glances. Each gesture contributes to a living tableau in which clothing comes alive through attitude, presence and emotion.
The soundtrack evolves in sync with the show, creating the impression that the actions on stage directly shape the atmosphere. The result is a cinematic, intimate space where every silhouette helps tell a story.
Designer Laurie Ponta is a Montreal-based fashion designer and 2022 graduate of the fashion design programme at Cรฉgep Marie-Victorin. Through PONTA, she explores how clothing allows women to assert themselves, occupy space and express their identity, drawing inspiration from vintage nostalgia and 1960sโ70s cinematic aesthetics.
