The Prado Museum is the only museum in the world with a complete collection of Spanish paintings dating from the 11th to the 18th century. In addition to Spanish images, this exhibition site is home to masterpieces by great Flemish, Italian, French, and English painters, such as Velasquez's "The Meninas." Initially, this museum was created to house only paintings and sculptures. Significant collections of drawings, engravings, antique coins, and medals are now on display. In 2007, the museum was developed and expanded by 50% to introduce new temporary exhibition halls, a visitor hall, and a large auditorium that can accommodate more than 400 people. Outside, the site is adorned with gigantic bronze doors of Cristina Iglesias and surrounded by a Tuscan boxwood garden. ◄
