This collection consists mainly of paintings, sculptures, new media, applied arts, drawings, and photographs. The original Stedelijk building was built in 1895 on the initiative of Adriaan Willem Weissman, a Dutch architect. The ground floor and portion of the first floor are decorated with more than 750 remarkable masterpieces.
