Danse en amateur et répertoire

In partnership with the Centre National de la Danse (CND), the Agora hosts the 19th edition of Amateur Dance and Repertoire, a nationwide initiative that brings together around one hundred amateur dancers from across France. Designed to foster engagement with the rich heritage of contemporary and historical dance, the project offers participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in major choreographic works while developing their artistic practice and understanding of dance history.

Throughout the season, eight amateur groups collaborate with professional choreographers, dancers, and rehearsal directors, exploring iconic pieces through workshops, performances, discussions, films, and other cultural activities. Their work culminates in a series of public presentations that celebrate both the diversity of amateur dance practice and the enduring influence of leading choreographic voices.

The programme highlights works by renowned artists such as Dominique Bagouet, Mathilde Monnier, Christian Rizzo, and Jean-Claude Gallotta. Audiences will discover reinterpretations of celebrated pieces including Necesito, pièce pour Grenade, Twin Paradox, D’après une histoire vraie, and 99 Duos. The event also features performances by groups from the Occitanie region, presenting works by internationally acclaimed choreographers such as Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Kader Attou.

Open to all audiences, this gathering transforms the stage into a space for artistic exchange and collective celebration, showcasing the enthusiasm, commitment, and creativity of amateur dancers while reaffirming the importance of transmitting choreographic heritage to new generations.
