The Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir returns to Holmens Kirke for two performances of Handel's Messiah, joined by the period-instrument ensemble Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and a quartet of international soloists.
The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, founded in 1986, performs on period instruments appropriate to the era in which the works were composed, striving for historically informed yet open-minded interpretations. The Chamber Choir mirrors this approach by performing with a small ensemble close in size to the forces used at the Messiah's world premiere in Dublin in April 1742, when approximately 32 singers were reportedly in the choir.
The soloists are soprano Elsa Benoit, alto Cecelia Hall, tenor Robin Tritschler, and bass Dominic Barberi. The conductor is Mogens Dahl.
Performances take place on 11 and 12 December 2026 at 20:00 at Holmens Kirke, Copenhagen.
