Les murs résonnent is a choreographic piece created by Philippe Meunier and Ian Yaworski of the Montreal-based company Les Archipels. The work features an ensemble of eight performers and is rooted in the gestures and rhythms of Québécois jig and folk dance, reimagined through a contemporary lens.
Rather than offering a nostalgic reconstruction, the piece sets tradition in motion — transforming it through collective breath, movement, and voice. The bodies of the performers function simultaneously as living archives and as instruments, generating a dense rhythmic score that carries echoes of communal celebrations past.
Performances take place at Agora de la danse in Montreal. Shows on October 21, 22, and 23 begin at 19:00; the final performance on October 24 begins at 16:00.
Founded in Montreal in 2019, Les Archipels has developed a sustained presence on stages in Québec and internationally, working across scenic and site-specific contexts. The company also pursues film projects and artistic collaborations, with a practice centred on rhythm, the body, and memory.
