Midsummer Night Dreams

Midsummer Night Dreams is a contemporary ballet by Guillaume Côté, loosely inspired by Shakespeare's 1595 comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream. The choreographer reimagines the story within a modern wedding weekend, where four young lovers are thrown into chaos by a mischievous figure and a magical love potion.

At its core, the work poses an intimate question: what becomes of love over time? Guillaume Côté explores the wear and fragility of long relationships, jealousy, fatigue, and the persistence of desire, through a choreographic language that is both incisive and deeply embodied, rooted in classical rigour.

The score weaves together music by Mendelssohn, Max Richter, Steve Reich, and Johann Strauss, while the staging gradually shifts from near-raw realism into the realm of pure dream.

Performances take place at 14:00 and 20:00 from October 29 to 31, 2026, at Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place des Arts.
