Nørrebro Teater hosts a live conversation between three prominent Danish creatives: film director Nicolas Winding Refn, visual artist Esben Weile Kjær, and musician Elias Rønnenfelt. The discussion centres on creativity — how it manifests across different disciplines and what drives each of them in their respective practices.
The evening explores where their worlds intersect: themes of magic, science fiction, romance, pop and punk surface as the three artists reflect on their artistic expressions. Journalist and radio host Maya Tekeli moderates the conversation, probing questions around authenticity, commercial pressures, and whether creativity functions differently in abstract versus conventional contexts.
The conversation will be held in Danish.
Nicolas Winding Refn is one of Denmark's most celebrated filmmakers, known for the Pusher trilogy, Drive (2011) — for which he won Best Director at Cannes — and the Netflix series Copenhagen Cowboy (2023). His latest feature, the sci-fi thriller Her Private Hell (2026), premieres in Danish cinemas on 5 October 2026.
Elias Rønnenfelt is the lead singer of the Danish punk band Iceage and a solo artist in his own right. His recent solo releases include Heavy Glory (2024), Speak Daggers (2025), and the EP Lucre (2025), made with British musician Dean Blunt and producer Vegyn. Iceage's latest album, For Love of Grace & the Hereafter, was released in May 2026.
Esben Weile Kjær is a visual artist whose practice spans performance, sculpture and installation, drawing on youth culture, nightlife and pop culture. His work has been shown internationally at venues including Centre Pompidou in Paris, Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin and MMCA in Seoul.
