ボロ・ハウズ・モスク

18世紀のモスクで、優雅な木製の柱と水面に映る池で知られています。精巧な天井画が特徴的で、首長の私的な礼拝所として使用されていました。

The Bolo Haouz Mosque stands on Registan Square in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, in the Bukhara Region. It is also known as the Bolo Hauz Mosque or Bolo-Khauz Mosque, and it is a place where many visitors pause for a quiet half hour while exploring the old city.

What to see

  • Wooden pillars: The mosque is known for its elegant carved wooden pillars, which give its prayer hall a light and graceful character.
  • Reflecting pool: A pool sits in front of the mosque, and the building is often admired for how its shape and pillars mirror across the water.
  • Ceiling paintings: The interior is decorated with intricate paintings on the ceiling, worth taking time over as your eyes adjust to the light.

About the building

The mosque dates from the 18th century. It served as the emir's private place of worship, which helps explain its refined interior compared with more public mosques nearby.
