DJ Fayas, known as Fadia, brings the rhythms of Morocco to the Medina stage at the Old Port of Montreal. Her sets weave together Gnawa trance, chaabi folk traditions and Amazigh heritage with modern electronic production techniques.
The sonic backbone of her performances features the deep, resonant guembri bass lute alongside the percussive rattle of the qraqebs โ traditional iron castanets โ giving her contemporary mixes a distinctly North African soul.
