David Nihill: Taking Tangents

David Nihill brings his latest stand-up show, Taking Tangents, to the Cinquième Salle in Montreal as part of the prestigious Festival Just for Laughs. The performance runs approximately 90 minutes without an intermission and is delivered entirely in English.

Originally from Dublin, Ireland, David has lived and worked in twelve countries and visited more than eighty. His comedy mines this globe-trotting life for material: cultural observations, language-learning mishaps, the occasional international late night, and the disorientation of being a perpetual immigrant.

David is the winner of the San Francisco Comedy Competition — whose past finalists include Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres and Dana Carvey — and placed second in the Moth Grandslam, the largest storytelling competition in the United States. He is also a published author.

His previous recorded specials include Documented (Dry Bar Comedy, 2019), Cultural Appreciation (2023), and the award-winning Shelf Help (2025). He has appeared on TED.com, Sirius XM, the Netflix Is a Joke Festival, RTÉ's Late Late Show, NPR and Huffington Post, among others. His videos have accumulated over 800 million views online, with a social media following of more than two million.

The show is listed as sold out, though a new-ticket alert option is available.
