Janette is a new theatrical creation by playwright Rébecca Déraspe, conceived as a tribute to Québec icon Janette Bertrand. The piece imagines an animated dialogue between Bertrand herself and characters spanning multiple generations, tracing pivotal moments in her life and the lasting impact she had on women and on Québec society as a whole. Guylaine Tremblay portrays Janette Bertrand in the leading role, with an ensemble cast including Normand Chouinard, Eveline Gélinas, Zoé Lajeunesse-Guy, François-Simon Poirier, Sébastien Rajotte, Lorenzo Somma, Phara Thibault, Zoé Ntumba, and Cynthia Wu-Maheux. The production is directed by Jean-Simon Traversy, co-artistic director of Duceppe, with set adaptation by Odile Gamache, costumes by Cynthia St-Gelais, and lighting by Julie Basse.
The show runs without intermission at a duration of 1 hour 50 minutes. It is presented at Théâtre Jean-Duceppe as part of the Duceppe season, with a special English surtitle performance on December 16, 2026. Three additional performances have been added on December 15, 16, and 17 as supplementary dates.
