Répétitions et résiliences

Répétitions et résiliences brings together three distinct contemporary dance works under one evening at Cinquième Salle, presented by the Festival Quartiers Danses. The programme runs approximately 90 minutes with an intermission and contains scenes of nudity.

The evening opens with Ce qui nous appartient, choreographed by Suzanne Miller in collaboration with Allan Paivio Productions. Drawing on a gestural alphabet of 26 signs she created in 2018, Miller transforms repetitive movement into a kind of dance-writing, weaving together rhythm, song and gesture to evoke emotion, memory and human states. The work runs 20 minutes.

The second piece, Just (12 minutes), is a new work by David Rancourt / PPS Danse, loosely inspired by David Lang's song of the same name. Rancourt explores how words, rhythms and repetition can seed a refined choreographic vocabulary, allowing simple, meaningful gestures to emerge through dialogue between movement and language.

Closing the programme is Fortress (40 minutes), the first collaborative work by Rebecca Margolick and Livona Ellis. The two choreographers — each with an established practice on Canadian and international stages — draw on their maternal figures to explore femininity, strength and vulnerability, moving from stillness toward a building, repetitive intensity that embodies endurance and resilience.

Tickets are priced at $49 (regular rate, taxes and fees included), with a youth rate available. Tickets are sold through the Festival Quartiers Danses.
