This evening brings together two contemporary dance works from Montréal and Hong Kong under the theme of gaze, voice, and the body. Béatrice Larrivée's 'Maintenant, Nous' (45 min) is a duo examining communication, identity, and feminist concerns through language and movement, weaving together translation, misalignment, and reinterpretation to question femininity, imposed standards, and belonging.
KT Yau Ka-hei's 'The Moment 刻' (35 min) draws inspiration from life-drawing sessions to explore stillness, the gaze, and the body as a living image. The piece moves between empathy and voyeurism, transforming the tableau vivant into a performance inhabited by movement, stillness, and voice. KT Yau Ka-hei is a Hong Kong-based choreographer whose bold work has been shown internationally.
Total running time is 1 hour 40 minutes with an intermission. The performance is in French and English with English subtitles. Audience members should be aware that the work contains scenes of full nudity.
