For its fifth runway appearance, 1ER MAI presents a collection centred on water as a symbol of both life and destruction. The theme speaks to human fragility and our deep connection to nature, with survival, resilience and adaptability as guiding concepts.
True to the brand's ethos, every piece is made from recovered materials transformed through artisanal techniques including weaving, patchwork, quilting, macramé and beading — celebrating craft as an act of resistance.
Designer Ysaline Lannes graduated from Cégep Marie-Victorin's fashion design programme in 2014 and founded 1ER MAI in 2021. Her work has been recognised by the City of Montréal, the Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec and mmode.
