迷人的海滨城市,以其运河、色彩斑斓的船只和Art Nouveau建筑而闻名。

Aveiro is a coastal city in Portugal, set on the Atlantic coast and often called the "Portuguese Venice". Its name comes up for good reason: a network of canals runs through the old town, and the city's character is shaped by water.

The canals are the first thing most visitors notice. Along their banks you will see the colourful boats known as moliceiros, traditionally used to gather seaweed and now a familiar sight on the water. Walking along the waterside is a pleasant way to take in the city at an unhurried pace, and the canals give the streets a different feel from many other Portuguese towns.

Aveiro is also known for its Art Nouveau architecture. Many of the buildings in the centre display the curves, decorative detail and ornament of that style, and looking up at the facades is rewarding in its own right. The contrast between the buildings and the water makes the city easy to enjoy on foot.

What a visit offers

  • Gentle exploration of the canals and the old town by foot
  • Views of the moliceiro boats and the waterside setting
  • Art Nouveau facades to admire as you wander
  • A coastal city atmosphere within easy reach of the Atlantic

Aveiro suits visitors who enjoy a relaxed city break built around water, architecture and a slower rhythm. Plan to walk, pause often, and let the canals set the pace of the day.
