Mare aux Hippopotames

This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve offers one of West Africa's most accessible hippo viewing experiences, where dozens of these massive mammals gather in natural pools. Located near Bobo-Dioulasso, the reserve provides excellent wildlife photography opportunities and guided walks through savanna landscapes teeming with birds and antelope. The best viewing times are during dry season mornings when hippos congregate in the remaining water sources.
