Caen
Caen is a historic city in northwestern France, serving as the capital of the Calvados department in the Normandy region. The city is renowned for its medieval architecture, including two magnificent abbeys founded by William the Conqueror and his wife Matilda in the 11th century, and played a significant role during the D-Day landings and Battle of Normandy in World War II. Today, Caen is an important educational and cultural center, home to one of France's largest universities and several major museums dedicated to Norman history and the Second World War.
