The Lion Monument was constructed in Lowenplatz to honor the more than 700 Swiss Guards who lost their lives during the French Revolution. The Chapel Bridge, or Kapellbrücke, is known locally, was constructed in 1333, and is adorned with images illustrating the city's long and rich history.
