The Merlion is one of Singapore's best-known symbols, a creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. This version stands on Sentosa Island, where it is also known as the Sentosa Merlion. At 37 metres tall, it is the largest Merlion statue in Singapore.
What to expect
The statue is more than a photo stop. It has an observation deck and a sky terrace, and from these vantage points visitors can take in panoramic views of the city. Standing at the height of the figure, you get a different sense of Singapore's skyline and surrounding waters than you would from street level.
Getting there
The Merlion is located at 30 Imbiah Road, on Sentosa Island, Singapore 099700. If you plan to call ahead with questions about your visit, the contact number is +65 6275 0388.
Making a day of it
Because the Merlion sits on Sentosa, it works well as part of a wider day on the island. Visitors often combine it with other attractions there, or with a walk through the area, and the views from the top make a natural high point for an outing.
