This large mural stands at 2161 avenue Melrose, at the corner of Maisonneuve, in Montreal, Canada. It was created in 2016 by the A'Shop collective, which brought together a number of artists for the work: Zek One, Fleo, Fonki, Miss Teri, Rouks, Five 8, Shadow, Ankh One, Monk.E, Strike, Flying Eric and Astro.
The project was produced by Prévention Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, under the city's Programme d'art mural (volet 2), the mural programme that has brought many works to Montreal's streets. The mural is listed in the city's own mural catalogue, which is a useful place to check for further details.
What kind of visit it makes
This is a street-art stop rather than an indoor attraction. You can see it from the street, at the corner itself, so a visit fits easily into a walk or a longer exploration of the neighbourhood on foot.
- Best suited to visitors interested in public art and urban murals
- Easy to combine with other walks through the area
- Suitable for a short stop, with time for photographs
The area around it
The mural sits in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough, a residential and mixed district of Montreal. Avenue Maisonneuve and the streets around the corner offer the chance to look at everyday city life alongside the artwork, and the wider borough gives visitors plenty of local streets to explore before or after the stop.
