Nxai Pan

Part of the greater Makgadikgadi complex, Nxai Pan is famous for its ancient baobab trees, including the renowned Baines' Baobabs painted by explorer Thomas Baines in 1862. During the rainy season, this seasonal lake attracts massive herds of zebra and wildebeest along with their predators, creating exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities. The pan offers a perfect blend of dramatic landscapes, from salt-crusted flats to grass-covered plains dotted with islands of vegetation.
