Orléans

Orléans is a historic city in north-central France, located on the Loire River about 120 kilometers south of Paris. The city is most famous for its association with Joan of Arc, who lifted the English siege of Orléans in 1429 during the Hundred Years' War, earning her the nickname "The Maid of Orléans." Today, Orléans serves as the capital of the Loiret department and is known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, including the Gothic Sainte-Croix Cathedral.
