Preah Vihear Temple, also known as Prasat Preah Vihear, is a Hindu temple in Preah Vihear Province, in northern Cambodia. It stands on a cliff in the Dângrêk Mountains, and its setting is the first thing most visitors remark on.
The temple dates from between the 9th and 11th centuries. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its long axis runs up the escarpment in a sequence of courtyards, stairways and gateways, so that the approach itself is part of the visit.
