Tursunzoda

This industrial city, formerly known as Regar, is dominated by the massive Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO) plant that powers much of the country's economy. Despite its industrial character, the city offers insights into modern Tajik society and the Soviet industrial legacy. The surrounding mountains provide a dramatic backdrop, and the nearby Nurek Dam creates opportunities for scenic drives through the region.
