Groenlandia

La isla más grande del mundo, un territorio autónomo de Dinamarca conocido por su capa de hielo y la cultura inuit.

Greenland is the world's largest island, lying in North America and forming an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. Most of its land is covered by an enormous ice sheet, and its population is largely Inuit. In the Greenlandic language it is known as Kalaallit Nunaat, and many visitors find that using the name, or at least learning a few words of Greenlandic, opens a warmer welcome.

What a visit offers

  • Ice and landscape: The ice sheet dominates the interior and shapes the coastline, so the island's scenery is stark, open and often dramatic.
  • Inuit culture: The Inuit heritage is central to daily life and to the island's identity, and it is the most natural thread for understanding the places you visit.
  • A Danish connection: As an autonomous territory of Denmark, Greenland blends its own language and traditions with links to Danish governance.

Planning your trip

Greenland suits travellers who value remoteness and open space more than conveniences. Getting around between settlements is a matter of planning ahead, and the weather can change quickly, so it is worth preparing for cold and unpredictable conditions. Ask locally about what is possible in the season you plan to visit, and allow time for the journey rather than trying to cover too much.

Whether Greenland is the right destination depends on what you are looking for: a quiet, wide landscape shaped by ice, and a chance to encounter a living Inuit culture on its own terms.
