Iglesia de Sant'Angelo

Una de las iglesias más antiguas de Perugia, que data del siglo V-VI. Construida sobre los restos de un templo romano, presenta una planta circular y columnas antiguas.

The Church of Sant'Angelo, also known as the Chiesa di Sant'Angelo or Tempio di Sant'Angelo, stands on Via del Tempio in Perugia, the hilltop city in Umbria. It is one of the oldest churches in Perugia, dating from the 5th or 6th century, and it is a quiet place to step back in time within the historic centre.

What to look for

The church was built on the remains of a Roman temple, and its circular plan sets it apart from the rectangular churches more common in the city. Inside, you can see ancient columns, which give a sense of the building's long layered past. Its round form and simple interior make it a good place to slow down and look closely.
