This mural by the artist Zek One stands at 1933 rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, on a street in downtown Montreal. It was created in 2016 as part of the city's mural programme, produced by the Éco-quartier Peter-McGill (SAESEM) under the Programme d'art mural, second strand.
What to expect
Street art is the reason to come here. The work is painted on a building wall, so it can be seen from the pavement and fits easily into a walk along Sainte-Catherine Ouest. Because it is an outdoor piece, it is best viewed in daylight, when the colours and details are easiest to take in.
Around the mural
The mural sits in a busy part of the city, so it works well as one stop among others:
- Walk along rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, one of Montreal's main commercial streets.
- Explore the neighbourhood around Peter-McGill, which the local eco-district organisation that commissioned the work is named after.
- Combine the visit with other street art and public artworks elsewhere in the city.
For more about the artwork and its commission, the City of Montreal's public mural listing for this piece is a useful reference. The work is shown there as the mural by A'Shop, artist Zek One, made in 2016.
