This mural by the artist Stare, whose full name is Simon Bachand, is a street-art work in Montreal, Canada. It was created in 2019 and sits on rue Ontario est, in the Ville-Marie borough. The work is listed at two addresses along the street, 2524 and 2531 rue Ontario est, so it is a good idea to check both locations when you go.
About the work
The mural was produced under the Programme d'art mural (volet 1), run by AGC Art Public, known as Artgang. The programme was funded through the Entente sur le développement culturel de Montréal, an agreement between the City of Montreal and the government of Quebec. Public murals of this kind are part of the city's wider effort to bring art into everyday streets and neighbourhoods.
What to expect
- Type of visit: an outdoor walk-by piece, best seen in daylight from the sidewalk.
- Location: rue Ontario est, in Ville-Marie, in the heart of central Montreal.
- Who it suits: visitors interested in street art and public murals, or anyone exploring the city on foot.
Because it is a public artwork, there is no ticket or opening time to plan around. Visitors can combine a stop here with other walks in the area, as the surrounding streets of Ville-Marie offer shops, cafés and further examples of the city's public art.
For more details about the mural and the city's public art programme, the City of Montreal publishes a dedicated page for this work, which can be found through the city's murals listing.
