Palacio Huaqing

Un antiguo palacio imperial y resort de aguas termales utilizado por los emperadores de la Dinastía Tang. Famoso por ser el lugar donde el Emperador Xuanzong y su querida concubina Yang Guifei pasaron sus momentos románticos.

Huaqing Palace sits on Huaqing Road in Lintong District, a short way from the centre of Xi'an in Shaanxi Province, China. It is also known as Huaqing Hot Springs or Huaqing Pool, names that point to its two defining features: the palace complex itself and the warm springs that rise on its grounds.

The site was an imperial palace and hot spring resort used by emperors of the Tang Dynasty. Its name is most closely tied to Emperor Xuanzong and his beloved concubine Yang Guifei, whose romance is remembered here. Visitors coming for the history will find the story of the court's retreat to the springs at the heart of the place.

What a visit offers

  • A walk through a former imperial palace and resort setting, shaped around its hot springs
  • The chance to picture the court life and romance associated with the Tang emperors
  • A pleasant outing from Xi'an, suited to a half day or a longer visit with other sights nearby

Planning your trip

Huaqing Palace suits travellers interested in Chinese history, imperial architecture and the legends of the Tang court. Because it lies in Lintong District rather than the old city, allow time for the journey out and back. The site can be reached by contacting the venue at +86-29-83812003 before you go, which is a sensible step when planning your day around other stops in Xi'an.
