The Erawan Shrine, also known as San Phra Phrom or the Thao Maha Phrom Shrine, is a Hindu shrine dedicated to the four-faced Brahma. It stands at a busy intersection on Ratchadamri Road in the Lumphini area of Pathum Wan, in central Bangkok.
What to expect
The shrine is a working place of devotion as well as a sight to see. Visitors are likely to find people making offerings and prayers, many of them seeking good fortune. Because it sits on one of the city's main crossings, it is easy to reach by road or by public transport, and it makes a short, focused stop rather than a long excursion.

Visiting respectfully
Since this is an active shrine, it is worth observing the people around you and keeping your voice and movements calm. Photography may be a matter of judgement, so take your cue from those who are praying. Many visitors combine the stop with a walk around the surrounding commercial district of central Bangkok, which offers shops, cafés and street life close at hand.
