Château de Bodiam

Château emblématique du XIVe siècle entouré de douves dans l'East Sussex, l'un des châteaux les plus pittoresques et romantiques d'Angleterre. Construit par Sir Edward Dalyngrigge.

Bodiam Castle is a 14th-century moated castle in East Sussex, in the south of England. It stands in the village of Bodiam, near Robertsbridge, and is often cited as one of the most picturesque castles in the country. It is also known simply as the 14th Century Moated Castle.

The castle was built by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge. Its square outline and the water that surrounds it give it a striking, storybook appearance, and it is a favourite subject for visitors who come to walk its grounds and admire it from the banks of the moat.

What a visit is like

Bodiam suits an unhurried day out. Most of the pleasure lies in approaching the castle across the grounds and seeing how the stone walls sit reflected in the still water. Visitors can explore the ruins themselves and take in the view from different sides of the moat, which is why the place feels so photogenic and romantic.
